It's the second song as a part of the EP I was working on before. I used a lot of what I learned in the Thief remix here. It was actually a repurpose of an old song I was gonna make for the scrapped Cycle/Reincarnate album, where I took the progression, rhythm, and voicings but scrapped the melody. The original name was Ascend, but I landed on Drift Away, then found the vocals. Funny enough, the vocals are in a different key, but the notes in the sample lined up perfectly in C Minor as well as the original minor scale it was in. \\n\\nPart of the reason why I keep scrapping EPs though is because I undergo a lot of growth as a producer between songs, so the quality sounds too different. Even with this current one, I feel like there's a noticeable difference in quality between this song and Nevermore. But, not much can be done about that!\\n\\nThis song was completed relatively quickly, given I was working on a different song for a while (Lament) but I couldn't get the song to feel coherent, since the progression felt too long for the style I was going for yet if I tried to shorten the progression to change chords quicker, it felt too fast. So, I pivoted to avoid burnout, especially because the chord progression for Lament is nearly the same as my other song in Dial (below) called Old Machine, just with different chord extensions.\\n\\nFor this song, I built on different things per drop. The first thing I focused on was my layout ability, since in the first drop I swapped between multiple different sounds, from the saw pluck i always use, a square beep, a string sample, as well as a reese. I also worked on my gun basses in the b section. Drop 2 focused on rhythm and intensity, given I really pushed forward with aggressive bass design. The last drop was a landmark to build up to, and I tried to suggest the melody at certain points, and draw back to it during the ending. The ending itself was also a bit of environmental testing and a way to practice writing lofi. \\n\\nWant to check out my ludomusicology project?: https://audius.co/FalseDawn/album/false-dawn-dial-ep\",\"field_visibility\":{\"mood\":true,\"tags\":true,\"genre\":true,\"share\":true,\"play_count\":true,\"remixes\":false},\"genre\":\"Dubstep\",\"isrc\":\"\",\"is_unlisted\":false,\"iswc\":\"\",\"license\":null,\"mood\":\"Yearning\",\"is_stream_gated\":false,\"stream_conditions\":null,\"is_download_gated\":false,\"download_conditions\":null,\"release_date\":\"2026-04-16T17:59:10.000Z\",\"tags\":\"dubstep,colorbass,melodicdubstep,garage,contemplative,vocals,driftaway,supersaws,heavy,lofi\",\"title\":\"Drift Away\",\"duration\":234,\"audio_upload_id\":\"d2c395ec9a33e516b6d2ace16b1b851d\",\"track_cid\":\"baeaaaiqseduiij7xqc2rjjgpewv2jbjkifbj4tcaemfzdytznm43f2rlubmtk\",\"preview_cid\":\"\",\"orig_file_cid\":\"baeaaaiqsea7x7ig5rqvun4fxu3b3ptlnfuzgmurmanfqhybzimungcz2jgumq\",\"orig_filename\":\"Drift Away FINAL 1.wav\",\"is_downloadable\":false,\"is_original_available\":false,\"ddex_release_ids\":null,\"ddex_app\":\"\",\"parental_warning_type\":null,\"bpm\":121,\"is_custom_bpm\":false,\"musical_key\":\"C minor\",\"is_custom_musical_key\":false,\"comments_disabled\":false,\"is_scheduled_release\":false}}",
